Dr. Alexander Ferworn | Lab Director

Rodney Yip | Strategic Advisor 
Rodney has over 30 years of business continuity, disaster recovery and emergency management experience. Recently retired from IBM Canada, Rodney lends his skills to projects such as IMPACT 2030 which supports the United Nations Sustainable Development project and the Private Sector Partnership Working Group for United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction. Locally, Rodney is on the Advisory Committee of Canada’s Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (working under the auspices of Public Safety Canada) and also co-chairs the Private Sector Partnership Working Group therein. As an artificer, Rodney has prototyped devices for emergency management and disability management.

Alfred Lai M.Sc. | Senior Research Associate – Cybersecurity 
Alfred is an alumnus of Ryerson University and a practitioner of Cyber Security and Information Assurance for over seventeen years. He has a background in Civil Engineering, Computer Networking, Telecommunications and Cyber Security. He holds a Certificate in Telecommunications from Ryerson University, a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from York University, Toronto and M.Sc. degrees in Information Systems Security from Royal Holloway College, University of London, U.K. specializing in Cryptography. He is also a graduate of Canadian Army Staff College and Canadian Forces College. He obtained his designation of Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) in 2008.Alfred worked for a federal Crown Corporation, consulted to various ministries and provincial Crown Corporations of the Government of Ontario, major corporations and telecommunications providers in the private sector. He is a senior signals officer in the Canadian Army Reserve.

Fatima Hussain | Adjunct Professor, Senior Member, IEEE
Fatima received her M.ASc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from Ryerson University, Toronto, ON, Canada. She is working as “Manager, Events Management and Analytics” in User Behaviour Analytics and Insider Threat team in Global Cyber Security, Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), Toronto. Dr. Fatima is responsible for creating intelligent and streamlined investigative workflows using a variety of investigative tools and machine learning models. She is responsible for providing and managing a system for defining fidelity, scope and action throughout the life cycle of cyber and analytics events. As part of User Behaviour Analytics and Insider Threat, she builds operational relationships across RBC for risk identification and remediation. She is also an Adjunct Professor with Ryerson University and her role includes the supervision of graduate research projects. Her background includes a number of distinguished professorships with Ryerson University and the University of Guelph, Guelph, ON, Canada, where she has been awarded for her research, teaching, and course development accomplishments within Wireless Telecommunication and Internet of Things. She is editor, IEEE Newsletter Toronto(section). Her research interests include Contextual Security, API security, cyber security, and machine learning. She is a prolific author with various conference and journal publications to her credit. Upon graduation, she joined the Network-Centric Applied Research Team as a Postdoctoral Fellow, where she worked on various NSERC-funded projects in the realm of the Internet of Things.

Prithu Prakash | Cyber Security and Forensics Advisor

Seasoned thought leader with a track record that sets the vision, creates the culture and follows through with strategies designed to define tactics and set the tempo for execution to ‘get it done’. Prithu has defined and differentiated markets around the world for accelerated ROI using media, whitepapers, campaigns, unsolicited proposals, and marketing. Evidence based, and results driven professional, Prithu offers more than twenty-five years of setting road maps and corporate direction in defence, cyber based communications, covert cellular communications and critical resilient infrastructure. A deep understanding of IoT, Cellular, and Cybersecurity for individuals and infrastructure has been gained and complimented with a strong understanding with the importance and differences in the different types of communication that can be leveraged by commercial, military, private and public communication systems for different situational environments and responses nationally and globally.

Dalia Hanna | Post Doctoral Fellow

Dalia is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the NCART Lab. AGE WELL National Agency funds her research work. She has a Ph.D. in Computer Science, M.Sc. in Instructional Design and Technology with a specialization in Online Learning and B.Sc. in Electronics and Communications Engineering. Among her certifications, she is a project management professional (PMP®), a certified facilitator and trainer for the Instructional Skills Workshops, and certified as an internal auditor for the ISO9000 quality standards. Dalia’s research interest in interdisciplinary programming, data analytics and algorithm design to locate missing persons using drones. Dalia’s published through national and international conferences.
Dalia is the Program Director, Community Services and the Interim Director Community Engagement, Programs 50+ and Spanning the Gaps with The Chang School of Continuing Education. In these roles, she oversees the development and management of community health, engagement, safety, and well-being programs. Her approach to community engagement focuses on prevalent concerns, including financial aid and post- graduation opportunities. As an instructor of professional communication, she is dedicated to providing a learning environment that fosters equity, diversity and inclusion, an increasing demand in several communities.
